PLANS FOR OUR NEW BUILDING

Our church family’s vibrant life and growth, and our longstanding commitment to care for our facilities faithfully caused us to ask about improved, expanded space for community and mission. Membership has grown from 3700 to 5300 and active children and youth by 35% since our last building project in 2003.

Could we save/renovate the existing youth/gym/mission building? Structural engineers and our maintenance staff indicate this is impractical, with code and aging issues, and now mold rendering it unusable.

Our Building Feasibility group secured zoning and neighborhood approvals to build up to 290,000 square feet. The church has received an encouraging financial feasibility study. We believe that this church has the capacity to raise the goal of $35 million.

Our new building will include a cafe, a gym, and a multipurpose space that will be used for lectures, performances, art exhibits, and recitals. It will have enhanced hospitality facilities for hosting our mission partners such as Room in the Inn. There will be gathering spaces for fellowship both inside and outside! Our youth and Scouts will have a wonderful home in our new building. We will achieve better connectivity with existing church buildings and have more flexible and attractive spaces for children, youth, worship, missions, and recreation. In addition, we will enhance the reverent oasis that is our columbarium.

MISSION BEYOND OUR WALLS

We are committed to a significant mission component beyond our walls. So far, we have made two pledges that address our city’s affordable housing crisis. One is to Habitat’s 39-home project on the site of the former Plato Price School. The other commitment is to partner with Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian Church to help build 21 studio apartments. These projects represent a $2 million investment from our campaign.
